Tiger, The Stillness Before the Pounce

Original Tiger oil painting by Charlotte Sutton.

Summary:
Tiger is a commanding painting capturing the intense, steady gaze of one of nature’s most powerful predators. Painted in meticulous oil detail by London-based artist Charlotte Sutton, this painting brings silent strength, tension, and raw beauty into your space.

The Story:
This painting is all about presence. The tiger stares directly forward - calm, unwavering, and full of latent power. There is no roar, no movement, no drama - just stillness. And yet, within that stillness lies everything: anticipation, dominance, control.

Charlotte created Tiger to explore the contrast between energy and silence. This isn’t a predator mid-hunt, but one waiting, watching, fully in control. It speaks to inner strength, patience, and the beauty of restraint.

The highly detailed fur, golden eyes, and layered textures draw the viewer in, inviting both admiration and reflection. It is a portrait not only of an endangered species but of a moment suspended in time - tense, beautiful, and unforgettable.

A note from Charlotte…
Charlotte painted Tiger in August 2020 in her Bristol studio. It was later exhibited at The Waterton Gallery, London, as part of her Into the Light solo show, and is now sold. Charlotte’s wildlife work aims to evoke emotion, foster connection, and spark a sense of stewardship through beauty and storytelling.
