The Story:
Charlotte created The Reef as a tribute to one of the most precious and endangered ecosystems on Earth. Drawing on field research, underwater photography, and her passion for marine conservation, she set out to honour not just the beauty but the complexity of coral reef systems. Every species depicted—corals, clownfish, sea slugs, anemones, and more—was chosen with care to reflect real biodiversity and ecological balance.
In this work, light becomes a metaphor for life: cascading from the surface, nourishing all it touches, yet fragile—just like the reef itself. The Reef is a love letter to the ocean and a gentle reminder of what we stand to lose if we do not protect it.

A note from Charlotte…
Charlotte painted the original The Reef in November 2022 in her Somerset studio. It was later exhibited at Green & Stone, London, as part of her Coexist solo show, and is now on display at The Sheraton Grand Park Lane Hotel. Charlotte’s wildlife work aims to evoke emotion, foster connection, and spark a sense of stewardship through beauty and storytelling.
