Charlotte was inspired by the surreal delight of seeing these tropical birds dart across London's skies—an exotic echo in an otherwise temperate landscape. A note from Charlotte…
This painting was created in summer 2022 in Charlotte's Wandsworth Town studio, not far from where these birds are often seen flying in flocks across the parks and gardens of South West London. Painted to capture not just the colour of the Ring-Necked Parakeet, but its character—the head tilt, the tail flick, the slight air of mischief.
