Millet, A Study in Subtle Abundance

This high-quality Millet Art Print is of the original Millet watercolour painting by Charlotte Sutton.

Summary:
Millet is a delicate fine art giclée print that pays tribute to this humble, ancient grain. Painted in translucent watercolours, Charlotte captures the soft ochres, greens, and earth tones of ripening millet heads with gentle layering and botanical accuracy. Printed on museum-grade textured paper, this print evokes a calm, pastoral mood—perfect for kitchens, dining areas, or spaces of reflection.

The Story:
While millet may be unassuming, its significance runs deep—it has nourished civilizations for millennia, from Africa and Asia to Europe. In this piece, Charlotte honours the understated grace of this crop.
She was drawn to the almost sculptural forms of the seed heads, the quiet rhythm of their growth, and the way they move with the breeze.
Painting Millet became an exercise in presence—slowing down to witness the textures of nature often overlooked. This artwork invites you to pause, look closely, and celebrate the everyday miracle of nourishment.

A note from Charlotte…
Charlotte painted the original Millet in 2020 in her Somerset studio. It was part of a commission for an estate who farmed the land and is now sold. Charlotte’s wildlife work aims to evoke emotion, foster connection, and spark a sense of stewardship through beauty and storytelling.
