As the final painting in Charlotte’s iris trilogy, Langport Wren grounds the collection in strength and quiet power. Inspired by its namesake cultivar - renowned for its deeply saturated petals - this portrait evokes candlelit interiors, rich tapestries, and the kind of natural beauty that draws you in slowly, then holds your gaze.

Layer by layer, Charlotte built this watercolour from washes of burgundy, russet, and ink-black violet, allowing the paper’s texture to lend softness to the flower’s commanding form.

Where Acoma is cool and fresh, and Paris Fashion is flamboyant, Langport Wren is introspective and regal. Together, they sing in harmony - but this one hums the deepest note.

A note from Charlotte…
Charlotte painted the original Iris Langport Wren in 2020 in her Somerset studio. It was part of a trilogy commissioned and is now sold. Charlotte’s wildlife work aims to evoke emotion, foster connection, and spark a sense of stewardship through beauty and storytelling.
