Green Woodpecker, the Laugh in the Trees

This high quality Green Woodpecker Print is of the original Green Woodpecker watercolour painting by Charlotte Sutton.

Summary:
Green Woodpecker is a vivid, characterful fine art print capturing one of Britain’s most charismatic woodland birds. With its vibrant green plumage, scarlet crown, and striking eye, this piece by Charlotte hums with life and playful energy. Originally painted in fine detail using watercolour, this museum-grade giclée print brings wild colour, joy, and personality to any space.

The Story:
Often heard before it’s seen, the green woodpecker is known for its unmistakable, laughing call echoing through the trees. Charlotte was drawn to this bird not just for its colour, but for its spirit—curious, quirky, and unmistakably alive.

Perched momentarily between moments of flurry, this woodpecker pauses on a slender branch, catching the light in a way that feels both intimate and wild. From the subtle texture of its feathers to the gleam in its eye, Green Woodpecker captures a flash of nature’s humour and surprise.

This piece invites the viewer to notice the liveliness hidden in quiet places—the sudden, joyful presence that breaks the stillness with a laugh.

A note from Charlotte…
Charlotte painted the original Green Woodpecker in 2020 in her Bristol studio. It was later exhibited at The Waterton Gallery, London, as part of her Into the Light solo show, and is now sold. Charlotte’s wildlife work aims to evoke emotion, foster connection, and spark a sense of stewardship through beauty and storytelling.
